Soccer is played in the rain!   But ONLY when conditions are allowing!  

Our OUSA policy is to INFORM parents BY EMAIL if needed to cancel a practice or game day
AT LEAST  2 (TWO ) HOURS ahead of the start time of the event BY EMAIL. 

If a quick storm pops up during the day - we try to get to all parents ASAP by EMAIL.  

If a consistent RAIN or COLD arrives quickly, we will  cancel early and look to RESCHEDULE  hopefully the same week when possible.  MAINLY ---CHECK YOUR EMAILS PLEASE. 



The mere presence of rain does not mean that practice sessions or games will be canceled. The OUSA policy is to attempt to play  when possible. The League Director will ba able to make this decision.  

The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) position is that if you can hear thunder you are within reach of lightning and that referees must protect the safety of all participants by stopping game activities quickly, so that participants and spectators may retire to a safer place before the lightning threat becomes significant.
Applying the 30-30 rule is recommended and to wait 30 minutes or more after hearing the last thunder before leaving the shelter.

Reasons for canceling games:

1. It has rained most of the night before the scheduled practice or game and it is still raining in the morning.
2. It has rained for several days prior to the scheduled practice or game and the fields are wet to the point where playing the game will destroy the playing surface.
3. The presence of thunderstorms and lightning.
4. It is raining at the time of the scheduled practice or game and the temperature is low enough to make conditions unbearable for the children.  

OUSA  will  do everything in its power to play all scheduled practice sessions and game days. 

We strongly encourage each parent to check their EMAIL ACCOUNT used to register the player online registration.   

IF NO CANCELLATION sent out 2 HOURS PRIOR TO SESSIONS START TIME --- 
everyone should assume that all practices or game days for that day are being played as scheduled.
